Women Ministries
WORD is Mary’s long time dream and vision to transform the livelihood of vulnerable and needy women, Single mothers in poor communities through Training and empowering them with necessary skills for development to help them become self–reliant.
With very limited resources she started Women of Restoration and Destiny (W.O.R.D) a few years ago, under W.O.R.D Mary and her Group started a Tailoring and Craft Making project, Jewelry making and in September this 2010, W.O.R.D started a School of Beauty to equip Women with skills to work in hair saloons or to start up business in Hair dressing.
Mary and Her team visit needy and vulnerable women in Villages to mobilize and sensitize them on how to better their lives through working with their own hands.
In Mary’s own words: The experiences of women in the communities where I have gone have painted unending desire in my heart to help empower them with skills to make them self – reliant. I have a heart for women
According to the 2007 MDG Report published by UNDP Uganda Country Office, the average Ugandan woman spends 9 hours a day on care labour activities such as fetching water, firewood and caring for the sick. The burden of care makes the woman particularly vulnerable when it comes to competing on the job market.
