Health:
Wash your hands carefully before eating and drink a plenty of water. You need to use a protection sun cream and insect repellent to avoid insect bites.
Remember to sleep under a mosquito net and take your anti- Malarial tablets, before leaving for Uganda and just make sure you speak to your Doctors to know which immunizations you need.
Climate:
The weather is tropical. However, because of altitude the heat is tempered.
Temperatures average about 26 degrees during the day and 16 degrees at night. The Wet seasons are from March to May and September to October and during wet seasons there a lot of mosquitoes.
Transport:
Depending on what you can afford, the pubic transport is normally by a 14 seater min Bus called taxes and Buses all public transport only set off once they are full, so expect to be in your seat a while before leaving.
There also car, Min bus and Van hires for transport that can be at your service as you need it.
Money:
The Unit of Currency is the Ugandan Shilling, if you want to carry cash US Dollars, Sterling Pound and Euro is fine. You will find a lot of Exchange Bureaux in Kampala ready to help Change your money
ATMs are found at Entebbe Airport, Kampala and all other Major towns in Uganda where you can get to withdrawal cash on visa cards. Remember to contact your bank before you leave to inform that you be accessing your account abroad.
Insurance
If need to arrange for insurance make sure that it is suitable for travel in Africa.
Contact and Communication:
There are number of Mobile phone networks in Uganda which will give you value for money but you can also bring your phone but you have to check with your network first.
There are number of internet cafes available and some hotels have wireless internet if you have your laptop.
